The BRS Barebones

Bladerunners Systems is a dominant force in the balisong community. We all know who they are and have heard great things about their knives. However, a large majority of people could not afford or get their hands on BRS' flagship balisongs. Thus, came the Barebones.

The Barebones is a cheaper alternative to the Replicant and the Alpha Beast. It has all of the visual appeal BRS is known for, and then some. The quality, for a $200 balisong, is great. Its fun to flip and as sturdy as expected for a BRS product. It does have it's flaws, however.

To start, the Barebones quickly develops noticeable handle play, followed by blade rub. Which is very unfortunate for a "high end" balisong. You can try to remedy this with loctite, but with that emerges another con. The hardware is nearly impossible to take out in many cases. BRS has become slightly notorious for the loctite they use and how it almost permanently seals their knives together. And the Barebones is no exception, our model has given us hours of difficulty while attempting to do regular maintenance.

Overall, the Barebones is an outstanding product for the price range. But sadly has minor flaws that make the experience far less enjoyable. We still love ours, but hope that the next version, if there is one, will be better.
